White Sox affiliates went 3-2 on Thursday with Thad Lowry’s pitching performance arguably the most notable performance of the day.
Nicky Delmonico (4), Jerry Sands (4) and Slade Heathcott (2) each hit home runs in the win. Sands’ blast was a grand slam. Jason Coats had two hits and a walk to raise his average to .329. On the pitching side Kameron Loe had a quality start (6 IP, 3 R, 2 K, 2 BB, 8 H).
Courtney Hawkins hit his seventh home run of the season to break a shut out up in the ninth inning. That was one of just six hits for the Barons. Eddy Alvarez had the only multi-hit day. James Dykstra (4.2 IP, 5 R, 4 K, 4 BB, 7 H) got rocked for the loss.
Thad Lowry (7 IP, R, 3 K, 3 BB, 1 H) walked two of the first three batters he faced and allowed a run in the first inning before settling down. He retired the last 14 batters he faced. That makes three quality starts in a row for the 21-year-old.
Like the Barons and Dash, the Intimidators managed just six hits. Grant Massey had the only multi-hit day, though Alex Call was 1-for-2 with a pair of walks. Johnathan Frebis gave up three runs in 3.1 innings, but Michael Horejsei and Alex Katz both had multiple innings of perfect relief.
Brady Conlan smashed his team-leading sixth home run in the win. Corey Zangari also had a rare game without any strikeouts, going 2-for-3 with a double and a walk. Catcher Casey Schroeder had a double and a triple and is hitting .301. Yosmer Solorzano (5.2 IP, 3 R, 2 ER, 5 K, 3 BB, 6 H) made the start and got the win.
