White Sox Minor League Recap 8/7/2015: Matt Tuiasosopo goes yard thrice, Heidenreich K's 10

Charlotte 9, Rochester 5

Matt Tuiasasosopo had himself quite the game. The left fielder went 3-4 with three home runs and seven (!) RBIs. Jason Coats and Kevan Smith chipped in the other two RBIs after going 2-4 each. Without Leury Garcia or Micah Johnson available, recently promoted catcher Rob Brantly batted lead-off from the DH position and went 2-5. Finally, Dayan Viciedo went 1-4 and is hitting .321 with Charlotte. With Adam Eaton‘s injury, keep an eye on the outfielders in Charlotte.

Scott Carroll got the quality start by going six innings of three run ball with no walks and one strikeout. J.B. Wendelken pitched two scoreless innings of relief.

Penascola 5, Birmingham 3

Tyler Danish had one of his weirder starts – the young righty went five innings, gave up five hits and five walks while striking out five. Despite allowing ten base runners, Danish only allowed two runs. Raul Fernandez blew the save after giving up three runs, two earned, in his three innings of work.

On offense Tim Anderson and Jacob May continued to get on base for the middle of the order, each going 1-3. Following them in the lineup, Nick Delmonico, Christian Marrero and Danny Hayes each logged RBIs. Delmonico and Marcus Lemon each had doubles this game.

Winston-Salem 5, Salem 3

Matt Heidenreich is itching for a promotion. Heidenreich struck out 10 batters in seven innings and walked none while allowing three runs.

Like their AA counterparts, Adam Engel and Eddy Alvarez were able to put the offense in a good position. Engel went 3-5 and Alvarez went 0-3, but he still managed to reach base, had a sacrifice bunt, a stolen base and run scored. Trey Michalczewski and Keon Barnum drove in a combined three runs, Michalczewski with a double. Omar Narvaez also went 1-4 with a run scored.

Greesnboro 3, Kannapolis 0

The Intimidator offense was blanked to the tune of only four scattered singles, two by John Ziznewski and the others by Michael Suiter and Ryan Leonards. Thaddius Lowry went six innings of three run ball where he struck out two while Zack Erwin went two innings of one hit ball where he struck out three. This was Erwin’s Class A debut.

Great Falls 5, Orem 3

The Voyagers were led to victory behind the bat of Zach Fish, who went 2-4 with a two run homer. Johan Cruz (1-4) and Antonio Rodriguez (2-3) drove in two more runs. Dante Flores went 3-4 with three doubles while Sikes Orvis went 2-3 with a walk.

Brannon Easterling went a strong seven innings of four hit ball where he struck out three and allowed only one run, a solo homer to Brendon Sanger. Danny Dopico went two innings and allowed two hits, two runs and two walks but struck out four.

DSL D-backs 5, DSL White Sox 1

Victor Perez, Leonardo De La Cruz and Ramon Espinosa threw a combined six scoreless innings in a losing effort for the DSL White Sox.
