White Sox Minor League Recap 06/17/2015: Thompson plays hero, Barons bomb the Generals

Charlotte 7, Pawtucket 5

Trayce Thompson had an exciting game on Wednesday, blasting two home runs en-route to a five RBI game. Thompson’s second homer was a three run shot in the eighth to give the Knights the lead. Every starter except Chris Marrero reached base. Tyler Colvin went 2-3 with a walk. The leadoff duo of Micah Johnson and Tyler Saladino each recorded an RBI.

Starter Miguel Chalas threw four innings of one hit ball before giving way to Jarrett Casey who gave up two homers and four runs. Maikel Cleto came in and got the win after throwing two innings of one run ball and Matt Lindstrom came in for the save.

Birmingham 8, Jackson 1

Tim Anderson went 2-5 with two doubles and three RBIs. That’s exciting. Joey DeMichele went 2-5 with a triple and two RBIs. Also exciting. Christian Marrero didn’t mourn his brother leaving him behind in AAA and went 2-4 with a double and a walk. Excitement continues. Jeremy Farrell went 4-5 with two doubles. Cool. Adrian Nieto went 2-5, but with three strikeouts. Not as exciting, but still, hits are are hits and Nieto is dancing dangerously close to the Mendoza line.

But the Barons putting up eight runs? For the offense starved fans of Chicago the AAA and AA slugfests look like a banquet.

Starter Myles Jaye went seven strong innings and only allowed one unearned run while only allowing four hits and striking out two.

That’s exciting.

Myrtle Beach 5, Winston-Salem 2

Jake Peter went 2-2 with two RBIs, including one off of a solo shot. Peter’s 1st inning home run extended his hitting streak to 20 games. James Dysktra went seven innings while only allowing three runs and striking out six.

That was not quite as exciting.

Hagerstown 4, Kannapolis 1

The Intimidators offense only managed to scatter five singles from Eddy Alvarez, Hunter Jones, Louie Lechich, Brett Austin and Mason RobbinsLuis Martinez went six innings of one run ball and only allowed three hits. Sadly David Trexler allowed three runs in the top of the 11th, his second inning of work, and Kannapolis couldn’t respond.

Exciting, but for the wrong team.

DSL White Sox 5, DSL Padres 1
