Marcus Semien and Tim Anderson were both stellar for the second straight day. Meanwhile, Eddy Alvarez is hitting like crazy since joining Kannapolis. Elsewhere, Great Falls was postponed leaving five games Saturday.
Knights 5, Norfolk 3 (11 innings)
Semien 3-3, HR #12, BB
Marcus Semien homered for the second straight game to bring his season total to 12. A late season push for him could help give him some September playing time with the White Sox now that Gordon Beckham is out of town. Josh Richmond also blasted his 11th homer. Adam Eaton started a rehab assignment with a two-hit day.
Mississippi 6, Barons 5 (11 innings)
Anderson 4-6, 2B
Tim Anderson is now sporting a comical .778 average in two games with the Barons. He’s been red hot after coming back from injury, which will help make up for the lost time.
Cleuluis Rondon and Jake Peter had two hits each. Trey Michalczewski followed up his three-hit day from Friday with a rough one Saturday: 0-5, 4 K.
Eddy Alvarez 3-4, 2B, 2 HR, K
Alvarez has been one of the best performing rookies of the White Sox 2014 draft class. He earned a promotion from Arizona after posting an .809 OPS in 27 games and has been better with Kannapolis. The 24-year-old raised his average to .436 in 10 games with the Intimidators.
Francellis Montas 5 IP, R, 9 K, 0 BB, 3 H
Blair Moore was 3-4 with a double and a strikeout, but the most notable performance belonged to Francellis Montas. Montas, pitching on rehab, made his fourth appearance in Arizona since coming back and had his longest and best outing. The minor league season is almost over, but he appears ready to return to a full season affiliate.
