6/25/14 Recap: Michalczewski and Dykstra boil Crawdads

The Knights and Intimidators broke out the lumber for Wednesday’s games, combining for 24 runs between the two offenses. The Barons hosted the 19th annual Rickwood Classic, but couldn’t deliver on the special day, losing by a score of 5-2.  The Dash were only able to play four innings before the rain came, they will play a doubleheader Thursday. The Rookie Leagues split their contests, Great Falls prevailed  in extras and the AZL Sox fell.

Star of the Day: In his first full year as a professional, nineteen year old Trey Michalczewski is excelling as the Kannapolis third baseman. The 2013 7th rounder is batting .298/.382/.462 this season and Michalczewski went 4-5 with his 6th homer in Wednesdays blowout win.

Who is Hot: Jordan Danks must want to be back in Chicago in the worst way, he’s hitting .353/.429/.588 over his last ten games. Matt Davidson crushed his 13th homer of the season and is batting .270/.341/.595 over his past ten games. Rangel Ravelo is heating up again, the Barons first basemen is hitting .359/.409/.564 over his last ten games and has an active 12 game hitting streak. Kannapolis first baseman Danny Hayes went 2-3 with a homer and three walks, raising his season slash line to .297/.404/.439. James Dykstra threw 6.2 innings without giving up an earned run, striking out 7 and only allowing three hits. The 2013 6th round pick has a tidy 2.81 ERA and a very impressive 60 strikeouts to only 9 walks on the season.
