5/30/14 Recap: Surkamp strikes out 12 Mudhens

The Knights fell in a close game to the Toledo Mudhens despite striking out sixteen batters and only allowing three hits. The Barons dropped an extra inning affair, while the Dash were tied going into the 10th when play was suspended. The Dash will finish their game tomorrow prior to their regularly scheduled game.

Star of the Day: Eric Surkamp has a history of racking up the strikeouts, he had 460 during the 2009, 2010, and 2011 seasons with the Giants. Surkamp has had mixed results thus far with the Knights, but his 12 strikeouts tonight is a career high.

Who is Hot: Christian Marrero blasted two home runs tonight for the Barons and he is 6-9 over his last two games with two doubles, two homers, eight runs batted in, and a walk. Mike Recchia has only allowed three earned runs over his first three Birmingham starts. Carlos Sanchez had a hit and an RBI tonight and is hitting .400/.440/.667 over his last ten games.
