5/26/2014 Recap: Morris sets doubles record

Due to a bizarre rule, the Barons had to complete a game with Chattanooga that was in the top of the 7th and saw the Barons ahead 6-2. Please note this game was originally started on April 28th, so no, Micah Johnson was not demoted and/or reinstated off of Charlotte’s disabled list. The Barons ended up tacking on three more runs and winning the game 9-2. The Knights and Dash were betrayed by their bullpens, blowing 9th inning leads that eventually led to losses. The Intimidators lost an offensive struggle by a score of eleven to nine.

Star of the Day: Kannapolis outfielder Jacob Morris broke a Intimidators record and tied a league record by hitting four doubles in one game. The 2013 draft pick was struggling heading into the game, but his outburst raised his average from .219 to .236.

Who is Hot: Omar Narvaez went 3-3 tonight with a walk and he is now slashing .317/.351/.347. Narvaez was billed as a defensive catcher when acquired from the Rays last season so his bat as been a pleasant surprise. Carlos Sanchez continues to surge at the plate, he went 3-5 with a walk and a stolen base. Tim Anderson knocked out three hits and stole a base. Courtney Hawkins went 2-5 and stole two bases, but also struck out three times. Charlie Leesman only allowed one hit over his six innings of work, striking out seven.
