Robinson Leyer 5.2 IP, 7 R, 3 ER, 2 K, 3 BB, 9 H
Hayes is a slightly interesting prospect. He’s hit in the No. 3 hole all season, which shows that there is some belief in him within the organization. Hayes was taken in the 13th round last year and hit .267/.354/.431 with Great Falls. He’s currently hitting .288/.385/.423. The Oregon State product is 23, so it’s hard to think of him as a big prospect at this point in time, but he could be worth watching.
Star of the day: Tommy Hanson
Hanson hasn’t exactly set the world on fire since joining AAA Charlotte, but this start might be progress. In four of his seven starts he has allowed three or more earned runs and also in four starts he has walked three or more batters. This outing was impressive for his control. Just one walk in seven innings is impressive, but he also threw 61 of his 98 pitches for strikes. On the season he has a 3.96 ERA with 21 K and 20 BB in 36.1 IP.
