Star of the Day: Kevan Smith was a dual-sport athlete out of the University of Pittsburgh when the Sox drafted him in the 7th round of the 2011 draft. He has been advanced very slowly by the Sox due to his defense as his bat has been good at every level. Tonight Smith went 3-5 with a triple and is batting .295 on the season.

Who is Hot: Trey Michalczewski went 2-4 with a double and is hitting .324/395/.405 over his last ten games. After a horrible slump, Trayce Thompson is 5-12 over his last three games. Keon Barnum is 8-17 over his last five games and his season average is racing towards the .200 mark.

Who is Not: Josh Phegley went 0-5 and is mired in a bit of a slump, hitting .189/.318/.514. He’s not a prospect, but the Felipe Paulino experiment might be coming to an end. Paulino only managed to last 4.2 after allowing six runs and six walks and has a 9.61 ERA in five starts in Charlotte.

With the Sox lack of outfielders couldn't they have obtained Joey Butler of the Cardinals? Surely he would have chosen the Sox over Japan, right? I'm kind of surprised the sox haven't aggressively looked for outfield help. There must be some 4A types that could use a shot or at least proved better A depth. I just really hate Moises Sierra. He doesn't seem to have any baseball instincts. He's the worst base runner I have ever seen. What do you think?

  • I find it hard to get fired up over a fourth outfielder competition. This White Sox team was never going to contend so I'm not going to sweat the little things.
