Charlotte’s struggles continued today as the Bisons piled in 6 runs in the 6th, 7th and 8th innings. Matt Davidson’s return to the lineup hasn’t changed his luck at the plate. While he missed time due to a sore hand, his break hasn’t helped him get back on track with his contact rate as his average fell to .152. Andy Wilkins did hit his third home run in his last 7 contests in the loss.

This game between Birmingham and Pensacola remained scoreless for the first 8 frames. FutureSox #7 prospect Chris Beck did get back on track tossing 6 scoreless innings. Beck did only strikeout one batter while allowing 7 hits and 2 walks. Pensacola scored two runs in the 9th only to have the Barons respond in the bottom half of the inning. Christian Marrero hit a go-ahead, walk-off, 3-run-homer to leap frog the Barons to victory.

Tim Anderson (PH) 0-1
Francelis Montas 4.1IP, 3H, 6K

In a game that was continued from Saturday, Winston-Salem fell to Frederick despite leading the vast majority of the game. Frank Montas pitched wonderfully once again and it wasn’t until the 9th inning when the Keys got to Euclides Leyer to walk-off in Frederick.

Winston-Salem 5, Frederick 2
Tim Anderson 1-4, R, K
Jacob May 1-4, R, 2B
Courtney Hawkins 1-3, HR, 2 RBI, K
Keon Barnum 2-3, HR, 2RBI, K

Tony Bucciferro 6IP, 8H, 2ER, BB, 3K

In the second half of this quasi-double header, Winston-Salem jumped out early to even it up with Frederick in this 7-inning bout. Both Courtney Hawkins and Keon Barnum contributed two-run-bombs to propel the Dash to victory.

Kannapolis 2, Hagerstown 1 (7 innings)
Adam Engel 1-3, 2B, K
Cleluis Rondon 0-3, R, K
Danny Hayes 0-2, 2K
Trey Michalczewski 1-3, R, RBI, K
Carl Thomore 1-3, 2B, RBI
Andre Wheeler 5IP, 5H, ER, 6K
Jose Bautista 2IP, 2K

Despite trailing the majority of the game, Kannapolis fought back in the top of the 7th to win this pitching duel. Kannapolis was dominated by Nationals top pitching prospect Lucas Giolito and it wasn’t until the righthander left the game that the Intimidators were able to put forth some offense. Trey Michalczewski and Carl Thomore had back-to-back RBI singles in the top of the 7th to give Kannapolis the lead that won them the game. The Intimidators two lefthanders, Andre Wheeler and Jose Bautista, combined to pitch 7 innings, strike out 8, and only allow five base runners.

Kannapolis 2, Hagerstown 3 (10 innings)
Adam Engel 0-4, R, BB, 2K
Cleluis Rondon 2-4, BB, K
Danny Hayes 1-3, 2BB, K
Trey Michalczewski 0-3, 2K
Carl Thomore 1-4, 2K
Tyler Danish 6IP, 4H, 2BB, 3K

The Intimidators weren’t as fortunate in the 2nd game of this double header. Both teams played tight again as there were no runs scored through the first 9 innings. Kannapolis pitchers Tyler Danish and Matt Abramson teamed up for 9 scoreless innings. In the top of the 10th, Kannapolis picked up two gift runs because of a sloppy Hagerstown inning. The Intimidators would relinquish the lead in the bottom half of the inning giving up three runs and losing on a walk-off bunt single by Wilmer Difo.

Star of the Day: Tyler Danish, SP
Tyler Danish was magnificent once again. The 2013 2nd round draft pick threw another 6 scoreless innings for the Intimidators. While he only struck out three, his GO/AO was an awesome 5.0 to bring his season GO/AO up to a brilliant 2.32. Danish has thrown 22 straight scoreless innings bringing his ERA down to a sparkling .71.
