Star of the day: Danny Hayes

Hayes reached based four times in five plate appearances with a single, a double and two walks. The 2013 13th round pick posted a .785 OPS with Great Falls last year, which the White Sox deemed enough to send him to Kannapolis as the starting first baseman and No. 3 hitter. The former Oregon State Beaver is hitting .257/.375/.392 this season. Not great numbers, but he is doing better since a slow start. At 23 years old he should be one of the better hitters on the team. He shows great discipline although his power is down a bit from last summer.

Weird performance of the day: Andrew Mitchell

Mitchell was the definition of effectively wild Saturday. He struck out seven in six innings, but also walked five. He also gave up just one hit and one run. He was a fourth rounder last year and has pretty much pitched like that throughout the year. Mitchell has 20 strikeouts, 15 walks and a 5.09 ERA in 17.2 innings with Kannapolis.
