I can tell you that, yes, I DO own a bodybugg. I got one last year when I found that the way I was eating and exercising wasn’t enough. To give you an example… I teach 5-6 group fitness classes per week AND I do my own workouts on top of that. My eating wasn’t bad, but you can imagine the appetite that such working out creates. I thought that I was eating just fine… until I was SHOCKED at how much slower my metabolism was than I thought! You see, the more fit you get, the more efficient your body gets and, thus, the less calories you burn during exercise because your body doesn’t have to work as hard to get to the same level of intensity (however, with the added muscle you will burn more calories when at rest… so, you win there!). Whew. Of course, that’s not a bad problem to have, because it means that my heart and lungs are working at a top notch rate. However, this DID mean that I had to take better control of my food intake.
Using the bodybugg was an eye opener for me, and I found it to be worth the price. It is expensive, yes, but it will tell you how many calories you are burning and, if you use in in conjunction with proper food journaling, you WILL be able to gain control of your eating habits and lose weight.
When I purchased my bodybugg I had already been using the myfitnesspal.com site for food journaling. So, rather than re-enter all of my foods into the provided bodybugg database and calorie counter, I just stuck with using My Fitness Pal for the food journaling side of things (plus, I have that application on my iPhone, which makes it easy to blog on the go!)… but your bodybugg subscription will include access to their database and food journaling, it will track all of your calories in/calories out, and help you set the proper daily guidelines for achieving the goals you set in the system. Knowledge is power!
Perhaps you don’t like the idea of wearing a black strap and device on your tricep all day? Well, there are some people who’ve come up with fun and decorative ways of spicing up their armbands! Perhaps go to your local fabric store and get some bling to add (like in the photo at the top of the article)?
Oh, and I also strongly recommend getting the digital wristband. Why? Because it will show you minute by minute how many calories you are burning during the day. Without the wristband you won’t see your total calories burned without plugging your bodybugg into your computer where it can access the system. So, armband is a big YES, I say.
Whether you are already fit, or whether you have lots of weight to lose, this gadget is handy to have. It will open your eyes, and if you follow the guidelines set up and track your food then you WILL get results. Does it take commitment? YES! But that goes with any goals in life that you are aiming to achieve.
