Revs edge Fire 2-1

Gustavo Bou’s 86th minute goal gave the New England Revolution a 2-1 victory over the visiting Fire and may have ended the visitor’s playoff hopes. Bou intercepted Francisco Calvo’s errant pass intended for Michael Azira before blasting a shot into the net past Kenneth Kronholm.

New England took the lead in the 17th minute as Wilfried Zahibo beat the Fire’s central defenders to the near post to finish Brandon Bye’s cross from the right wing.

The Fire took tied the match the 41st minute as Nicolas Gaitan’s classy free kick service found Calvo breaking behind the Revs defense to knock in a header.

The loss puts the FireĀ  points out of the seventh and final playoff spot in the East with only five games remaining. Bastian Schweinsteiger did not travel in order to be at home and prepare for the birth of his second child with this family.
