Sporting KC edge out Fire 1-0

A fourteenth minute Yohan Croizet goal was enough for Sporting Kansas City to defeat the visiting Fire 1-0. On the goal, Dax McCarty’s pass was intercepted leading to a quick counter. Croizet split Francisco Calvo and Bastian Schweinsteiger at midfield to find Kenneth Kronholm well off his line. Croizet slotted the ball home from approximately 28 yards out with Kronholm standing twenty yards from the goal line.

Questionable finishing from the home side kept the game close as the Fire showed little of the attack that scored five times against Atlanta three days prior.
