Fire earn 2-2 draw in Toronto

A first half stoppage time goal seemed to have turned the tables in a match dominated by Toronto FC up until that point. A beautifully executed long pass over the top of the defense from Andrew Gutjahr, after Aleksandar Katai forced a turnover, found CJ Sapong streaking the other way. Sapong, with an equally impressive touch to gather the ball subtly chipped the ball past goalkeeper Alex Bono to level the match at 1-1.

The Fire took the lead in the 62nd minute. A sloppy TFC pass near midfield started the Fire on the counter with Dax McCarty feeding Katai on the run up the left side. Katai’s cross found Nemanja Nikolic in front of the net for the Fire’s second goal.

Toronto tied the match in the 76th minute when Jonathan Osorio headed in Jozy Altidore’s service to the far post.
