Barouch sold?

According to the official site for Israeli club Bnei Yehuda, the club has purchased striker Orr Barouch from the Fire.  Chicago received $400K and Barouch was rewarded with a 4 year deal.  Nothing has been announced here but the site claims Barouch will arrive in Israel on Thursday.

  • That's funny since the Fire had just purchased Barouch this season after seeing some promise from him last year, but this year he has seen almost zero time on the field.

Anything on the Bocanegra to Chicago rumours?

  • In reply to jtrevolt:

If Bocanegra were to return to MLS he would be subject to allocation so the Fire would have to swing a trade to get him. Toronto, Chivas, San Jose, DC, and Portland are all ahead of the Fire in the pecking order. I'd be surprised if that rumor came true.

    In reply to Guillermo Rivera:

I realize Boca is beloved, and a Fire icon....but do the 2012 Fire really need a 33 year old center back? Defense seems to have some depth right now. Your thoughts Gui?

  • In reply to Dan Farmer:

They don't really need him at the moment but if there is a chance to get him I think it's worth pursuing. If the price isn't too steep I don't think it would hurt.

  • In reply to Guillermo Rivera:

i smell another scarf cooking on the grill...

  • In reply to c0quito18:

No scarf on this one. It seems they are looking into what it would take to get him. A lot of things have to happen for this to get done though.

  • Always was a fan of Orr. Never got a real chance. Wish him the best.

Boca would be nice but until the team officially announces it I am not holding my break. Always nice to hope though.

Boca would be a huge addition for 2 reasons, 1. Leadership and 2. Experience.. It would allow for Berry and Freidrich to rest down the stretch, and maybe we can trade Anibaba for a young forward or draft pick..

  • No, Anibaba should not be on the trading block. Berry and Anibaba are the future at this point. Gibbs, Friedrich, and Bocanegra are the type to provide experience and depth, but they're all on the wrong side of 30. Bocanegra would take Friedrich's spot next year. It's players like Hunter Jumper or Corben Bone who should be made available for trade if we want to go after Bocanegra--players with a lot of talent but who just haven't broken into the starting 11.

  • In reply to Fuegofan:

Totally agree with you on that, Fuego.

  • I wish Orr the best and glad he landed in a place where he'll be able to start and develop as a player.
Although it would be nice to have Boca back it wouldn't be worth it if the price is too high or if the team has to give up too much to move up the allocation ladder. The Fire has to give up looking at the past and start looking forward, would rather see the team pursue a top flight striker, unless a decent deal could be worked out with the team that has his rights.

  • I like Orr a lot, and I think it would be good for him to go somewhere where he'll get more time.

As much as I'd love to have Boca back for sentimental reasons, I really don't think he'd be necessary. If he wants to come back here specifically and it won't cost too much, then sure, it's good.

But if he's going to come back and simply take the starting place of one of our developing players, stalling their development for the future, I'm not in favor of it.

  • $400K to sell off Orr Barouch? The Fire made out like bandits on this deal. A lot Fire fans have turned ragging on the FO into a cottage industry. Give the FO their props for this move.

I would love to see Bocanegra back with the Fire. He still has a lot to offer and would improve the Fire backline. I'm afraid he won't come cheaply, however.

  • In reply to StaryByk3:

Gotta give credit when it's due.

  • In reply to StaryByk3:

    Questions, questions:
Isn't $400 K is close to what we paid for Puppo?
And isn't MacDonald making about that much in salary this season? What did they pay Tigres for his rights?

  • I liked what I saw from Orr Barouch, but he wasnt seeing the field much, and $400k is a very good price. So, good piece of business by the Fire, and hopefully Orr's career will improve from here on.

  • Just checked No News on Orr Barouch
from them and he is still listed on the Roster.
Mike Jeffries is also still listed as director of personel.
Is the Fire not keeping us informed and up dated
    on their current events??

  • In reply to Juergen:

If the transaction has been completed I don't know what the hold up would be. Could be an MLS thing.

  • The Fire front office should be locked up cause they just robbed that team!!
Losing Barrouch isn't much of a loss he was too slow. Cuah called him many times to ask for his speed back.
You must get points for hitting th post in Israel.
As far as Boca, no thanks. We got fleeced when we got Mcbride and he was marginal here cause of his age while the NE of the world always seem to get the Tojas and Feilhabers. Boca wouldn't bring anything morr to the table that Arne and Gibbs already bring. We need another striker for when Rolfe has the inevitable next ankle injury.

  • In reply to MikeRUZE:

Mike Ruze I agree with your comment100% .
If only the Fire Decision Makers would wake up and
realize a consistant GOAL SCORER we have been
missing for over two Years now is STILL NEEDED!!!

  • In reply to MikeRUZE:

McBride for Chad Barrett and a draft pick? I would still make that trade all day long.

  • Nothing to do with Barouch, but I was on a CTA bus yesterday and noticed a Fire advertisement for tickets dating from the Aug. 18 game and the featured player was Grazinni.

  • Pappa gone immediately!,0,4981944.story

  • In reply to Roti2000:

Oh no! Who am I going to criticize for an errant pass or high shot now? I'm dead serious here. Man that sucks!

  • In reply to c0quito18:

I do wish him the best in the Netherlands. I know he's worked his ass off to be on the big stage in Europe and I hope he does well. Did the Fire retain his rights if he pulls a Toja and ends up back here, Guille?
