Marko Maric Waived

After just one appearance (the April 14 debacle in Portland) the Fire have waived midfielder Marko Maric.  The move comes just one day before the MLS roster freeze deadline of September 15 and opens up an international roster spot.  Maric, whose salary is listed at $200,000.00 guaranteed for 2011 was the second highest paid player on the Fire’s roster according to MLSPU numbers released on Monday.

Coincidentally, former Chivas USA midfielder Panchito Mendoza is training with the Fire this week but no addition to the roster has been announced as of yet.

Man, that was a high salary for a player who has hardly seen. Same with Christian.

Good to see Carr score for Houston tonight.

  • 0-0 at the half. Decent first 45 minutes for the Fire against a pretty good Chivas side. Chaves had a decent chance on a header and Pappa forced a diving save for the Fire's best chances of the night so far.

  • Fire make subs a plenty the half. Line up now looks like this:

    GK Conway
    D Gargan, Mikulic, Cuesta, Pantazopoulos
    M Pineda, Videira, Paladini, Barouch
    F Chaves, Nazirit

  • Kellen Gulley enters for Chaves in the 76th minute with Chivas leading 1-0
