Playoffs?...We're Talking About Playoffs?

If the MLS playoffs were to begin today the Fire would left on the outside looking in.  Fortunately, the Fire have more than a third of their schedule remaining and some time to make up ground.  Dropped points on late goals in two consecutive road matches don’t make the current table any easier to... MLS and Adidas Re-Up 'til 2018 for $200 Million

The big MLS story making the rounds today is that Adidas and MLS have agreed to extend their current sponsorship agreement until 2018 to the tune of $200 million dollars.  That is not only a good sign in terms of the viability of MLS for sponsors and advertisers but it’s also a step in the re-introduction... Sounders 2 Fire 1 - Game Recap and Player Ratings

A difficult loss after what probably should have been a hard earned road point will be difficult to get over especially since the Fire did not play badly for most of the match.  Unfortunately another inexcusable defensive lapse results in an empty handed road trip.  Making matters worse, Freddie Ljungberg will miss the next match... Dimitrov Released / Ristic In?

The Fire announced the release of forward Stefan Dimitrov today.  The move opens up a roster spot for a new player addition.  My guess is that perpetual trialist Bratislav Ristic will finally be signed by the team within the next few days.  Ristic trained with the team again this past week.

Fire Training Report - Castillo Staying In Chicago

According to Carlos De Los Cobos, Nery Castillo will not travel with the team to Seattle in order to continue working on his fitness.  Castillo will stay in Chicago to work with fitness coach Alvaro Birones ahead of the Los Angeles game next weekend.  “Nery is improving, but first he needs to recover his best... Mid Week Injury Report - More Problems on D

The Fire’s mid week injury report features two new additions.  CHICAGO FIRE — OUT: DF Dasan Robinson (R hamstring strain); QUESTIONABLE: GK Sean Johnson (mediastinitis) Robinson will miss the Seattle match due to the hamstring injury suffered in the first half of the Houston game.  It’s unclear if Johnson’s condition was caused by the collision... Another Look At The Fire's Salary Cap Situation

A few weeks ago I used my amateur MLS accounting skills to take a look at the Fire’s salary cap situation. I wrote the piece before the acquisitions of Castillo, Ljungberg, and Segares and the departures of Mapp and Ward so I’ve decided to take another stab at attempting to decipher the puzzle known as the MLS... Dynamo 4 Fire 3 - Game Recap and Player Ratings

A furious late comeback from two goals down is wasted as the Fire surrendered a deluge of corner kicks and practically unchallenged header opportunities.  The last corner kick chance was the deciding factor as CJ Brown failed to mark Brian Ching in the 85th minute.  An insane second half which saw six combined goals provided...
