The Agony of Entrepreneurship

The Agony of Entrepreneurship
Entrepreneurship. You can read books on it. You can go to seminars about it. You can pursue it. But know this: Entrepreneurship is not for the faint of heart. Why do we do it? Did you know that the pursuit of entrepreneurship means that you’re willing (and crazy enough) to work 80 hours for yourself... Read more »

3 things you wouldn't believe about today's kindergarten students

3 things you wouldn't believe about today's kindergarten students
You know the expression, “Never say never,” well, yeah, learn from me and don’t say it, because trust and believe me when I say, I said emphatically that I would never teach PE to kindergarten kids again.  Well, so much for that. For the past month, I’ve been teaching elementary PE to kids at a... Read more »

Never say never: One week back to teaching for Chicago Public Schools
You’ve heard it said several times, but it doesn’t pack the same punch until you experience it for yourself: “Never say never.” These are the sentiments I’d spoken about teaching elementary phys ed and most certainly, I thought I knew like I knew my name, I’d NEVER teaching kindergarten gym again! International Women's Day, #PressforProgress
Today is International Women’s Day, a day we #PressforProgress. Confessions of an LA Fitness employee, racism is real

Confessions of an LA Fitness employee, racism is real
I thought long and hard about telling my story, and just recently made up in my mind to let bygones be bygones and move my unbelievable experience with LA Fitness to the recesses of my mind by focusing on new opportunities. I had finally gotten myself to a place of peace. But now, I must... Read more »

The devil wears Prada...and gym shoes!

The devil wears Prada...and gym shoes!
In the movie “The Devil Wears Prada” Meryl Streep portrayed the boss from hell who judged her employees based purely on  what they looked like. As the editor-in-chief of a high fashion magazine, that seemed only fair–except judging people on appearance leaves no room for their talent or knowledge, which was the case for Andy... Read more »

Faith and fitness, the perfect blend

Faith and fitness, the perfect blend
You can train the body, and you can do exercises for your mind. But, what I’ve found is that faith and fitness is the perfect blend. I didn’t always emphasize the spiritual aspect of diet, nutrition, and exercise. I mean, I loved God, but my focus on my “spirit man” was like a mint the... Read more »

Fat Fitness Pros: Do you respect them?

Fat Fitness Pros: Do you respect them?
Obesity. A disease that now impacts every race, culture, class, and profession–even the fitness industry. I remember as a teen being completely enamored by Jane Fonda and Richard Simmons as they bopped around in neon outfits, headbands, and leg warmers encouraging us to get up and move. I thought being a fitness expert was fun... Read more »

    Elana Anthony

I am a wife and mother blessed to have six daughters who fill my home with love and laughter. My passion is writing and teaching, but most especially inspiring people to live healthy lives in my faith-filled fitness classes. My dream is to have my own faith and fitness TV show where people from all the world collectively join together on our "temple" building project of enjoying optimal health. I am a certified group fitness instructor by the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA), and earned graduate degrees in Writing from DePaul University, in addition to a degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion from the California University of Pennsylvania. I have seen and experienced the hand of God work and move in my life, and consider it an honor and blessing to be saved to serve.
