The Agony of Entrepreneurship

The Agony of Entrepreneurship
Entrepreneurship. You can read books on it. You can go to seminars about it. You can pursue it. But know this: Entrepreneurship is not for the faint of heart. Why do we do it? Did you know that the pursuit of entrepreneurship means that you’re willing (and crazy enough) to work 80 hours for yourself... Read more »

5 things you must do when you're under pressure

5 things you must do when you're under pressure
Pressure. We all get it. We’ve all had it. None of us wants it, but we can all learn from it–except when you’re under it, you don’t care that diamonds are formed by pressure or that pearls are produced from irritating sand pressurizing that oyster. “Who cares?!?!,” barks the person under pressure. I just want... Read more »

A Friday the 13th I'll never forget

A Friday the 13th I'll never forget
I wasn’t going to write this today; hadn’t really considered the date or thought about anything special.  I was busy moving about in my own world trying to enjoy a beautiful, sunny, summer afternoon with a moment of silence as all of my girls are out of the house for a change. I’m rarely alone,... Read more »

Wait...I'm becoming a vegetarian? How did I get here?

Wait...I'm becoming a vegetarian? How did I get here?
Never in a million years did I ever think I’d stop eating meat. Why would I? It’s just something we do as Americans. I can remember being a little girl standing on a chair with my grandmother cleaning chitlins, something I thought I’d eat till the day I died. Even when I became a fitness... Read more »

Enjoying my mother after a stroke, a different kind of Mother's Day
These last few years have been quite different ever since my mother has several strokes. Her first one was an aortic stroke that she had with my daughter on a cruise to the Bahamas. And then again about five years ago, she had an abdominal aortic stroke.  Just to have my mother still alive I... Read more »

A Mother's Day rant from a mom of six daughters
Sometimes I wish I could just tell the truth about me. You would think I would since this is “The Everyday Me” where I blog on the things that move my heart.  However, I feel as if every day I am trying to live up to others’ expectations, even though I know self-help books (my... Read more »

A not-so-secret strategy for creating wealth

A not-so-secret strategy for creating wealth
I am a self-help junkie.  I love reading books on improving myself and discovering what other people have done to succeed. Many talk about habits and how if you don’t master them, they will master you. Many offer steps to success that are new or others that I’ve never considered–but the real not-so-secret strategy for... Blogging through the pain: A glimpse into a writer's mind
Every writer wants that magical moment when it feels as if the clouds have parted and the sun comes pouring down where the right words come to mind and they go coursing out through your fingers onto your keyboard like music. In graduate school, I learned that that magical moment is called the “Platonic role... Read more »

Whether plus-size or petite, if you're losing weight, read this!
I have been in the fitness industry for over ten years which is nothing but the bat of an eye for many of my colleagues and mentors who are trainers, instructors, and fitness directors. Elana Anthony

I am a wife and mother blessed to have six daughters who fill my home with love and laughter. My passion is writing and teaching, but most especially inspiring people to live healthy lives in my faith-filled fitness classes. My dream is to have my own faith and fitness TV show where people from all the world collectively join together on our "temple" building project of enjoying optimal health. I am a certified group fitness instructor by the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA), and earned graduate degrees in Writing from DePaul University, in addition to a degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion from the California University of Pennsylvania. I have seen and experienced the hand of God work and move in my life, and consider it an honor and blessing to be saved to serve.
