In a world where the news is bombarded with terrorist attacks and inexplicable acts of violence toward innocent children who suffer nonsensical murders, as a mother, and as a Christian, you can’t help but be at a loss for words when trying to make sense of this for your children and have your faith rattled. Why do these things happen? Why is there such hatred in the world? Where is God in all of this?
And then, a story like this pops up.
Usually, I find that the only way to survive my morning rituals is to tune out some of the stories that come blaring across the airwaves as I listen to the morning news. I have it on, but often times I’m not actively listening. To do so would make me want to climb back in bed and pull the covers over my head, at least that’s how the little girl inside of me feels. But the adult “me” most go on and live life and press forward, often times hanging on to nothing but my faith–the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
It was childlike faith that has given me hope today as demonstrated in this heartbreaking video of a father explaining the Paris attack to his young son.
Amazingly, the father’s explanation made sense to me, and also, after a while, to this little boy. Today, me and my little girl inside, can go on with a firm resolve that love does indeed conquer all, especially when sprinkled with flowers and candles burning brightly to give us resolve for another day.
Thank you Parisian father for giving the world hope through your gentle and kind explanation of love and peace.
And thank you Heavenly Father. I will continue to trust in you in spite of it all.
In FITNESS and In Health,
Elana
