Well, I knew my open letter to Willie Wilson might ruffle some feathers, but I never thought I’d end up being called an idiot or a racist! But that just goes to show how passionate people are about politics in Chicago, and rightly so, given the city’s longstanding history of corruption with crooked politicians. Like Wilson supporters, I think it’s admirable that someone is willing to stand up against “the machine.” But that’s no reason to call me all kinds of names. Here I am just trying to write a heartfelt letter to a man that clearly has the financial fortitude to make an impact, but a man that, although people just don’t want to admit it, IS NOT GOING TO WIN.
It doesn’t make me a racist to think that Willie Wilson isn’t going to be mayor of Chicago. It makes me alive on planet earth, because anyone who can breathe, think, or hear can also SEE that the man doesn’t stand a chance.
I don’t have anything personal against him. I think it’s great that people aspire to live the life of their dreams. As a matter of fact, it’s one of my favorite affirmations: I am creating the life of my dreams. But I can affirm positive statements until the cows come home, it won’t make me wake up and be Oprah. You have to match action with belief.
Sure, you say. That’s what Willie is doing.

And to you, I say, no he is not.
Why? Because with all the money he has, he could have paid and mastered the art of public speaking. I’m just amazed that none of his “friends” told him that! How is that such a terrible thing to say?!?!
Case in point: I came across this Youtube video titled “Willie Wilson addresses ‘fit’ schools in Chicago.”
Perfect, I thought. Wilson is campaigning for “fit” schools. I am health and fitness spokesperson. Can’t get a better match than that. But just take a look at this video.
Need I say anything more?
Oh and by the way, that video was posted by The Sir Walter Jones Show. And when I showed Wilson’s campaign video to my teenage daughter’s crew here for a sleepover, they thought it was a SNL act. They said, “Oh, this is a real person!” And they’re not racist. They’re not idiots. They are studious debaters. So now what?
