It’s the eve of the commemoration of the capsizing of the SS Eastland. I hope you can make time to attend one of the free, public events at the new River Theater at the exact site of the Eastland – south side of the Chicago River between the Clark and LaSalle Street Bridges.
Friday – July 24, 2015 at 1:00 pm. The official anniversary of the disaster.
Saturday, July 25th at 11:00 am. The “formal” ceremony, featuring musical performances and the annual flower-laying memorial conducted by the coast guard.
Saturday, July 25th 8:30 pm. Sunset Ceremony and Concert featuring music from Eastland, The Musical.
I’ll be attending Friday’s 1:00 pm ceremony with a group from the tour: 844 Souls Underwater, The Eastland at 100, sponsored by Ursula Bielski’s Haunted Chicago Tours. Tour is SOLD OUT.
On Friday night, I’ll be leading a guided tour of Eastland graves at the Bohemian National Cemetery at 6:00 pm prior to a memorial concert at 7 pm: Phantom Air Waves: 844 Souls Underwater. The cemetery tour and concert are free and open to the public. Please join us for an unforgettable evening.
If you see me at any event, please come say hi. As always, Remember The 844!
