In 2011 I ran my first Lakes Area Running Club S-No-W Fun Run 5 mile race in Lake Geneva. You can read all about it here if you want. My main memories from that race? The horrible hill during the last mile and spectators at the post-race party telling me I should have won the dance-off.
So, while I’m sure some people ran this year’s S-No-W Fun Run with a goal to place in their age (no 5 or 10 year age groups here. Every age is its own group!) my goal was to survive the run and then do whatever it took to win the Sausage Dance.
Apparently, whatever it takes is this (<-YouTube video of the final dance)*. And, no, I can’t believe I’m sharing that video. Let’s just say that I definitely took advantage of the free beer at the post-race party.
Because, really, why else do you run a race where the road conditions look like this? 5 miles of snow covered roads with the wind blowing snow into our eyes. Yeah. It definitely put the “no” in S-No-W Fun.
But dancing the night away and then hitting up the hot tub and hotel pool with the Wurst Running Club ever made this one of the best nights I’ve had in a long time. This is definitely a party with a running problem. And I’m okay with that.
