Occasionally — not always — when I drive a manual transmission vehicle, I seem to have a female problem. And, no, not that one. It’s of the 1-inch, 2-inch, 3-inch or 4-inch variety. Heels. I’m talking about heels. When I release the clutch while wearing high heels, the end catches on the floor mat. This either makes me release the clutch too quickly as I try to shake my heel free, or my foot gets stuck mid-release.
What I’m trying to figure out: Is it just me? I have a guy friend in Texas who wears cowboy boots with a low heel, and he says he never has this problem in a manual. Is it because his heel is thicker than mine? Or is it just because my foot is smaller? I wore everything from 1- to 4-inch heels during the test week, and I had the problem every time in the BMW M5. Note: When I was wearing running shoes or ballet flats, I did not have a problem.
So, tell me: Does anyone, anyone at all, have this problem?
