Well, since I didn’t crash last year, they actually asked me back. This year, I’ll be driving a Jeep Wrangler in the McDonald’s Thanksgiving Parade with the Harlem Globetrotters. Is it just me, or is that going to make for a hilarious photo? And believe me, one (or several) will be posted.
Chrysler Group will once again serve as the automotive sponsor for the parade, providing 29 vehicles to pull floats. In order to give the reindeer a break before Christmas, Santa’s sleigh will float down State Street being pulled by a Dodge Durango with a Hemi V-8 engine.
Be sure to tune in on Thursday, November 22, from 8 to 11 a.m.
Right now Accuweather says it’s going to be sunny and 55 on Thanksgiving Day in Chicago, so it might actually be a good year to go out and watch the parade. If you do, bear in mind:
- The parade route is on State Street from Congress to Randolph
- There are InterPark parking garages nearby at: 20 E. Randolph, InterPark – 17 E. Adams, 203 N. LaSalle and 181 N. Dearborn.
- Public transportation is always a good idea: metrarail.com, amtrak.com, transitchicago.com.
If you’d rather watch from the comfort of your couch, WGN will air the entire parade from 8 to 11 a.m.
