We’re having a heat wave…. The mid winter temps are tolerable in contrast with this time last year when frostbite was pervasive. It should nix any anxiety of making a Windy City pilgrimage, this upcoming week, to visit 2020 Chicago Auto Show, The 112th edition of America’s largest consumer car display makes a it’s splash today.

TECH IS WHERE IT’S AT: Even the more affordable new cars & and light trucks have a rear camera as standard equipment and offer some variation of Advanced Driver Assist System, which typically includes self-steering, accelerating and braking within an identifiable lane above a nominal speed and lane departure or rear cross traffic warning.

PLUG IT IN: While petrol power isn’t going away any time soon, every few months seems to bring the announcement of new battery electric vehicles. The trend towards greater renewable or cleaner energy means every brand offers now Electric Hybrid models. Don’t count Hydrogen fuel cell electrics out of the renewable energy mix too.

GOING VERTICAL, OVAL OR GRID: with Jeep, Ram, Toyota and Volkswagen indoor offroad and track courses. Ford, Mazda, Subaru, Toyota, Volkswagen and Volvo will make local streets drives available outside (weather permitting).

SHAKE IT UP: in Ford’s GT & Toyota new Supra GR hydraulic arm simulators. Lap a real Volkswagen GTI arcade style (Our advice = Brake Hard). BRING THE KIDS: Monday February 10, 2020 hosts Family Day special family themed events on Presidents Day, when kids are off from school. The place is abound with interactive displays including Chevrolet’s challenging robot erector set vehicle maze. Parallel parking has never been so easy.

HUMAN POWER: Honda will calculate your human power running speed on Sunday February 16th, 2020 at their Miles Per Run tracking 2.4 miles through McCormick Place buildings.

Parking at McCormick Place runs $15-$23, reduced to $10 after 6 pm. Remote Millennium Park Garages ($15 daily) offer free shuttle services.

Public Transportation: the CTA , Metra Electric Line .

Senior/ Disabled Accessibility: Scooters and wheelchairs can be rented at Gate 4 ($20 daily).
