This oughta be good: Illinois Policy Institute's documentary on House Speaker Mike Madigan

It’s about time that someone did a documentary on Illinois House Speaker Mike Madigan, the pilot who drove the state of Illinois into a mountain. Now, the Illinois Policy Institute has done it. Check out this trailer:

As the Institute notes:

Illinois is one of only 14 states without term limits and this documentary highlights the influence an officeholder can wield in the absence of term limits. Madigan is the longest-serving House Speaker in the U.S. Madigan became an Illinois legislator in 1971 and has been Speaker of the House in Illinois for all but two years since 1983. During the time Madigan has been Speaker, Illinois has had six different governors, more than 200 state senators and more than 500 state representatives.

“Madigan: Power. Privilege. Politics” will be available for viewing online and at select Illinois movie theaters during the second week of October.

Madigan has been given the opportunity to do this right for more than 30 years. Isn’t it time that his ticket was punched?

  • I see that John Kass has apologized for his "bad judgment" in allowing himself to be interviewed for the movie, "since it was backed by the Illinois Policy Institute, a group that supports Gov. Bruce Rauner in his political fight with Madigan." In other words, he has now learned it is a propaganda movie.

As opposed to the propaganda politics that Madigan has employed in leading Illinois to the cellar for the last thirty plus years. Look at the condition that Illinois is in and tell us what an outstanding job Madigan has done. $113 billion and climbing pension debt, not a single balanced budget in the last 16 years, even though the Illinois constitution requires it to be. The gerrymandering of political districts so his party will have complete control of the State and that others that oppose his ways will not be heard. He has placed Party and power over what is best for the State.
