Sometimes I am a 13 year old boy trapped in a 36 year old man’s body. I like to laugh and a lot of those times those things that I laugh at can be deemed “inappropriate.” So I was incredibly pleased to go see the new movie by Seth Rogen and Universal called Good Boys. I’m a sucker for raunchy humor. I heard that this movie was the next version of Superbad, and that you will laugh for 90 minutes straight. Those two comments are probably the most realistic reviews I can offer. It will not only make you laugh, but will take you back to that awkward time in life when you were discovering who you were. There was a time during the movie where I had a déjà vu moment and was like this is sort of like my childhood. I’m a combination of characters Max and Lucas. Max is a tween with raging hormones and Lucas is kid who always tells the truth. I can’t forget about Thor either. His character is this wannabe tough kid who has a passion for performing.
In my opinion Keith L. Williams’s character of Lucas is the star of this movie. There is a few scenes that stand out including him performing in school after learning about some bad news, worrying about a fox and a squirrel, and has a great line when he is in a frat house with his boys. Speaking of laugh out loud moments, this movie is filled with tons of them! I am not going to give anything away but the scenes about the boys finding “weapons,” crossing the highway, Thor’s musical performance and practicing to kiss on a “CPR Dummy” are absolutely hysterical. Besides laughing out loud for the entire movie, this a well scripted coming of age movie. If you’re looking for a movie that will make you feel young again, and has a ginormous amount of laughs, then I highly recommend going to see this one.
