While sports fans all over the country have been sucked into March Madness, the NFL has continued to quietly go about the business of burning down rosters and filling holes on would-be championship teams.
In the last week, a couple future Hall of Famers have been forced to find a new home. Baltimore safety Ed Reed signed a multi-year deal with the Houston Texans, joining the long list of players that will be receiving their Super Bowl rings via FedEx. And in Chicago, it appears the 13-year run of linebacker Brian Urlacher has come to a close.
The other headline-grabbing news of the last couple weeks was the debacle surrounding defensive end Elvis Dumerville in Denver. Because his paperwork wasn’t filed on time, the Broncos may have been forced to let a fantastic pass rusher walk out the door as a free agent.
Every team will be looking for the right guy to either fill a hole created by free agency, or to supplement the roster that’s already in place. Here’s a look at how the first three round of the 2013 NFL Draft might play out.
