All set to go camping for Memorial Day weekend, and wouldn’t you know it, the weather drops into winter-like conditions. So, this is why they say don’t plant your flowers in Chicago before the holiday weekend.
The return of DMX? From the grave? I would expect no less. But with Jay-Z and NAS, and on a song called “Bath Salts?” This one is worth your time, and it just shows how much X will be missed.
Grizfolk released “Fumes” this week, a song that stands out amongst the clutter in my radar. I’m tired of all the bullshit out there, all the remixes, and all the collaborations. This is straight-up soulful rock that checks all of the boxes.
More Modest Mouse this week that feels a bit like Beck. “Leave A Light On” shows another new side to the band and proves they are definitely changing shape on this new record.
Dirty Heads and Train? I never saw this coming but it’s not bad. As a matter of fact, I think a little more Train on this track would have been better. Pat Monahan can be heard in the background and he’s got a killer voice that should be more prominent as it is towards the end of the song.
We have not heard from Chiddy Bang in awhile. “Guava” is the new single. I hope it grows on me.
Your Jazz Cut Of The Week is beautifully sung by Gretchen Parlato, composed by Yuta Bandoh, featuring BIGYUKI on piano. It’s a stunning song that begs for more, and I hope they do an album together. “All The Same” will be on repeat for a long time to come.
