Trashcan Sinatras "Wild Pendulum" Was The Most Surprising Release of 2016

The most surprising release of 2016 has to be Wild Pendulum by the Trashcan Sinatras.

I had no idea they were making music again, and then Release Radar hipped me to what has become my favorite listen, start to finish, of 2016.

In The Music came out in 2009, and that wasn’t even released stateside. So, it’s been a long time since folks here in the U.S. have heard any new material.

“Come on DJ earn your money/Cause I need to work on Monday/Do your job, cleanse the sinful days.”

“All Night” shows a band that has grown tremendously since the days when they fed us Cake. And while I do love the gluttonous, sugar high, this (Wild Pendulum) is where the boys should be.

Upbeat, and groovy, and the horns give it a grown up feel. Add in the glorious vocals, clever lyrics, and sparse instrumentation, that fills all the right gaps.

Stunning return to form!

A big “thank you’ to the Trashcan Sinatras for coming out of hiding, and gracing us with this beautiful music. You have been severely missed!
