Chicago's "New Edition": Vince Nantes

Chicago’s very own Vince Nantes is doing big things at a young age.  He’s putting out music that falls along similar paths of artists like Drake, Frank Ocean, and The Dream, adding more of an R&B flavor.  He’s been singing since the age of 5, and writing his own material since he was 13.  His track “Girl Next Store” harkens back to the days of New Edition, and “Text At Night” reminds me of something they might have done.

“What Does It Mean” has that newer sound I initially mentioned, rooted more in hip hop.  The style of music Nantes creates ala “Turn It Up,” would fit perfectly on a local station like B96, or WGCI.  Actually, it would work well on any “Rhythmic Top 40″ station that was hip and supported local flavor. Soon enough they will have to play his jams if he keeps at it, they are too good to keep hidden. Check him out on Soundcloud and listen for yourself.  Head over to Bandcamp, show him some love, and DL that mixtape too!
