Cubs keys to winning?
Keep the game to nine innings
Be the first to score
The Cubs scored one run in each of the first three innings, including Mike Olt’s first big league homer. A terrific debut by Josh Hammel held the Pirates to just 1 run in 6-2/3 innings. Then the bullpen held on (through some tense moments) to keep the game to nine innings and give the Cubs their first win in their shortest game of this young season.
Like the Cubs yesterday, I don’t blog into extra innings. Seventeen syllables, a few comments. You’ve got time for that, right? So get it delivered to your inbox whenever new stuff is posted.
