Facebook Group Is Sending Underpriviledged Kids To Cubs Game

Cubs go for the sweep today versus the Atlanta Braves. Jason Hammel will try to regain his first half form. Hammel was terrific in the first half. He left the game right before the all-star break with a hamstring problem and hasn’t looked the same in the second half.

The Cubs facebook group Elite Cubs fans is looking for more donations to send underpriviledged children to the Cubs game in Philadelphia. The leader of the group, Jason Gilley (@gilley1020) was inspired to help out after watching the special on ESPN which described Manager Joe Maddon’s efforts to help children in his hometown of Hazleton,PA. The latest update I saw showed that they have collected enough to send 32 kids to the game and they will meet Joe Maddon.

If you would like to donate you can at www.GoFundMe.com/EliteCubsFans. They are also taking clothing donations. This could be your chance to unload your Theriot shirsey or your Garza jersey. Clothes donations can be sent to: Hazleton One Community Center 225 East 4th St. Hazleton,PA 18201 Attn: Bobby Curry

I have been a member of this Facebook group for just a short time, but it is not your stereotypical Cubs Facebook page. The fans that post on there are knowledgeable and not meatball fans.  Negative fans that don’t respect others’ opinions are thrown off the page. I haven’t seen any cursing. (Yes I have to hold myself back). Twitter accounts like FacebookCubs that look for poor material from fans on Facebook would not find material on this page. I recommend joining if you are a Facebook user.
