New York rat yanks pizza slice down subway stairs; scampers before eating

The Internet’s latest viral video shows a New York City rat determinedly dragging a pizza slice down the subway stairs at the First Avenue L train station.

The rat apparently likes its pizza plain, though we couldn’t definitively confirm that.

Matt Little, a comedian with the Upright Citizens Brigade, calmly shot the video on his phone.

“That was one of the coolest things I think I’ve ever seen,” Little told DNAinfo New York in an interview.

Little also said something we can all relate to: “”You’re carrying too much and you have to go too far and there’s always a lot going on.”

So deep, Mr. Little.

Couldn't do that with deep dish.

  • In reply to Seth:

Lol. I'll say. Not only that, but one slice of a Giordano's stuffed pizza, aka gut depth charge, and he'd be out of commission for a month.

  • ""That was one of the coolest things I think I’ve ever seen," Little told DNAinfo New York in an interview.

This just in, Matt Little confirms he's a moron!

  • How come CTA rats cannot show that kind of entrepreneurial initiative?

  • In reply to emglatstein:

Obviously the Chicago rats have a better union contract.

  • In reply to SpinyNorman:

Reminds me when Blago was being interviewed in the alley behind his house below a RATS poster. Maybe the answer is that Chicago rats have more clout.

  • In reply to jack:

    You're a bit off Jack.
Blago was sneaking off to his car in the alley through the back yard of his house, instead of the front stairs as he usually did & John White of the Sun-Times caught him next to a city Streets & San poster that had in large letters: "Target Rats". He was looking almost directly at White's camera.
John White has deservedly won many awards for his photography.

Scooter, you are correct about some details fading over 7 years, but the image of him under the rats poster doesn't.

I wonder what kind of pizza rats eat in Ravenswood Manor.

  • Speaking of rats, I was a bit surprised that Kevin didn't post a story about the delayed Ventra app rollout for Metra riders. I know the app is primarily geared towards suburban commuters, but it would be a good opportunity to bash the company again. At least it appears that they learned their lesson, and won't release the unfinished app to the wild until the major kinks are worked out.
