The Waltzing Mechanics currently are staging their 10th edition of “El Stories” at 11 p.m. every Saturday at the Greenhouse Theater Center, 2257 N. Lincoln Ave.
Their stories are inspired by real stories of CTA commuters. God knows, there’s plenty of material out there.
Each week, the show also offers a volunteer audience member an opportunity to share his or her own experience aboard the CTA and then watch their story instantly played back on stage by selected ensemble members. After the show, audience members are encouraged to share their own transit tales with company members. Those recorded submissions often form the scripts of future editions for the production.
In February 2011, I gave an early version of “El Stories” a great review. There’s every reason to expect a great result this time, too.
For tickets ($15), visit the Walt Mechanics website or through the Greenhouse Theater Center box office at 773-404-7336.
