CTA Holiday Train to see Red (and Purple lines) this week

CTA’s Holiday Train will take Santa dashing through the warmth and rain on the Red and Purple lines Wednesday through Saturday.

On Wednesday, the Holiday Train will make one round trip on the Red Line from Howard to 95th/Dan Ryan and back north to Howard. It will depart Howard at 2:46 p.m. and reach the Loop at Lake by 3:36, and then hit the 95th terminal by 3:58.

It will head north again at 4:16, reaching Jackson in the Loop to surprise rush hour commuters at 4:46. Santa will treat Fullerton crowds to oohs and ahhhs at 5 p.m., finally reaching Howard for the night at 5:28 p.m.

Thursday is Purple Line day both the Evanston and Wilmette end and with one Express foray into the city and around the Loop “L.”

It will start at Howard at 3:15 Thursday and be at Linden by 3:28. It will turn around at Linden and head toward the Loop starting at 3:50. Santa should make it to Belmont by 4:20, and Clark/Lake by 4:38 p.m.

The Holiday Train will slide through Chicago at 4:56, Belmont by 5:10; Howard by 5:25; and Linden at 5:40. Santa will leave Linden headed to Howard at 6:02 p.m., expected to arrive at Howard for the night by 6:19.
