CTA entertainment: From stage to unseen tracks

There are many ways to be entertained on the CTA, and thet don’t all have to do with a Red Line ride at 10 p.m. on a Saturday night.

“El Stories” by the Waltzing Mechanics. This 12-member troupe is back staging real passenger tales from the rails. Collected from stops and stations all over the city, the stories the Mechanics have found are hilarious, horrific, and heart-warming moments that were experienced by actual CTA commuters.  Their recorded stories are transcribed and adapted, and the ensemble replicates each source contributor’s voice in performance. Performances run at 11 p.m. every Saturday through May 26 at the Greenhouse Theater Center, 2257 N. Lincoln Ave.

Snowflake tour of unseen CTA track. Tickets are going fast for the Snowflake Special Excursion tour of almost every CTA rail line. The tour will feature the 2400-series rail cars, slated to be replaced by the new Series 5000 rail cars. Order tickets here. More details here.
