Your seat should only be as wide as your bottom....

This photo serves double-duty. It reminds us of problems with the “legs-wide-spread guys” I’ve written about a number of times.

And harkens back to the argument of whether the new rail cars should have bench seating rather than the molded plastic seats that don’t always fit every person’s bottom.

    Doesn't indicate if it is Japan or China (and I was told you can't tell just from the character set) but I doubt that they have 300 lb. ones there.

    The photo is of a sign on a Japan Railways train. Note the "JR" at the bottom of the sign.

    But this again brings up shoulder width. My bottom easily fits within the molded seats, but my shoulders don't.
    The seats are just too narrow.
