Thespians waltz over to Brown Line to re-enact riders' tales on stage

After a successful run of “El Stories: Red Line,” the Waltzing Mechanics will share stories of Brown Line riders starting July 15 on the Downstairs Mainstage at the Greenhouse Theater Center, 2257 N Lincoln Ave. Regular performances run Fridays and Saturdays through August 13 at 10:30 p.m.

Tickets are $13 general admission and are available in advance or by calling 773-404-7336.

The Mechanics gathered 25 stories from Brown Line riders derived from many hours of interviews. “Care was taken in adaptation to preserve the actual speech patterns of the source contributors in the script itself, and the twelve actor ensemble will again prepare for performance using both interview transcripts and the source recordings as research guides,” according to a press release.
The Waltzing Mechanics perfected this technique earlier this year with stories from the Red Line. See CTA Tattler’s review.

And go see the show.

  • Shouldn't it be "el historias? At least that is what is would be on canal cuarenta y cuatro punto uno.

    Good one, Jack.

Google translate: channel one point forty-four

  • In reply to Kevin O’Neil:

However, Google translate got it backwards. I went by how Channel 44.1 says it there, at least about their website, which is telemundo punto com.

Of course, Spanish may be like French, and everything is backwards, like the abbreviations for Montreal's transit agency.
