CTA haikus: Toward becoming unglued to our iPhones

Here’s another in our series of CTA haikus by Jen Masengarb.

glued to your iPhone
how can I smile at you
if you won’t look up

Chicago haiku no. 32 | November 2010

I’ve written before about how people need to pay more attention to their surroundings to avoid becoming victims.

Someone became a victim this week at Fullerton, and the end result is a woman was murdered as the thief pushed his way down the stairs at Fullerton with his prize and sent her tumbling to her death.

Please pay more attention to your surroundings.

(And please don’t comment that I’m “blaming the victim” here. Not at all. I’m just saying we all have a responsibility to help prevent crimes. Just as we lock our doors and windows at home to prevent burglaries, we should pay more attention to the evil that lurks around us to better protect ourselves.)
