Wassup with those fake bricks at Belmont?

I’ve had a couple queries and then got to see it for myself when I went to Mom’s for Easter dinner. So I asked the CTA myself: Wassup with those fake bricks held down with duct tape on the northbound Red Line platform at Belmont?

It turns out CTA workers are using this plywood with fake bricks to cover maintenance work. “CTA contractors re-glued the expansion joint filler along that particular section of the platform, and the plywood covering was used to protect the joint filler from being pushed downward while the glue sets,” said a CTA spokesperson. “We’re still wrapping up some punchlist items” on the new Belmont platform.

Thanks. Inquiring minds want to know, after all.
