New platform benches please Monroe Red Line riders

The platform benches are back on the Monroe Red Line platform, pleasing many tired commuters, especially Tattler pal CC Writer.

CC first complained about the lack of Monroe seating starting in the summer of 2007, after one was removed after apparently being vandalized with an ax. Then another was vandalized some time later and taken away. Finally the third was removed last year.

Now two benches are back, one at each end of the platform. CC reports that they appear to be used but comparatively new models, with wooden seats you can sit on from either side, metal supports, and the customary metal dividers to prevent lying down.

And she says she’s just one of the happy riders at that station stop.
