App lets you generate Bus Tracker texting instructions for your stop

We’ve written about the latest cool CTA Bus Tracker expansion – the ability to text the CTA to learn when the next bus will arrive at your bus stop.

But what if you don’t know your special bus stop ID number, and don’t have a Web-enabled phone? The CTA has posted the ID number at just 42 select bus stop signs in a pilot project, but that’s just a drop in the bucket compared to how many actual bus stops there are.

So it’s Web developer Bec to the rescue!

She’s developed an app that lets you locate your stop on a Google map and specify your bus route. It then spits out a nice label that you could affix to your local bus stop with clear packing tape.

Don’t call it defacing CTA property. Call it helping out your fellow bus riders. Below is what the app and sticker would look like when I searched the #151 arriving at Belmont and Broadway.

Thanks, and nice work Bec!
