IceHogs' Jeff Taffe... Beauty of the Year?

Before I get into my pro-Taffe rant here, I would like to recognize the amazing performance by IceHogs’ goaltender, Alec Richards.  Richie was robbed of a shutout with 2 seconds left in the game.  He stopped 34 out of 35 shots and the IceHogs’ ended their 4 game losing streak, beating the Peoria Rivermen 2-1.

The first goal of the game was scored by The Jeff Taffe.  Taffe got the action started early, which the IceHogs needed.  During the loosing streak the IceHogs failed to keep a lead or play a solid first period.

Beside from it being the key goal of the game, Taffer broke his season record point streak and is now sitting on an 8 game point streak, the most by any IceHog this season.

I am a strong believer in The Jeff Taffe.  He is one of the main leaders on this team.  Not only is he the alternate captain but he has been by far the most consistent of the players in terms of scoring (honorable mention goes to Brian Connelly).

So my question to all of you is why is he down here in the A? Believe me we’d love to keep him but why don’t the Blackhawks want him?

He got a shot with them last week, but I don’t think one game is enough for Taffe.

The Blackhawks have done a great job of bringing in their Rockford talent, as you can tell.  Nick Leddy has been a key player for them and we’ve seen Jeremy Morin put up some points and get into some scraps in the show. The Blackhawks have also tested out Rob Klinkhammer, Ben Smith, Brandon Pirri, Ryan Potulny and Evan Brophey this season.

I agree with them mixing up who they bring up and we’ve seen the Rockford boys become men with the Blackhawks.  They have been a key part of the Hawks this season. That could be part of the reason why the Blackhawks overlooked Taffe.  The other Rockfordians that have been brought up are younger ranging 19-24.  Taffe is 29 and has been around the block a few times.  Perhaps the Blackhawks were counting on their young talent and trying to transition and develop them with the moves?

I just hope that the Blackhawks are watching Jeff Taffe and will give him another try.  Maybe test him out with new lines because he sure is one heck of a beauty here in the A.
