On March 2nd, Countess and myself had the pleasure of finally attending a performance of the Belmont Burlesque Revue. Ve had been “dying” to see this one and I had a night off from my graveyard shift so ve made our vay down to Theater Wit for vhat ve knew vould be a fabulous time.
From the looks of the crowd vhen ve got there, it looked like all of Chicago’s burlesque fans vere in attendance, the house vas so packed! Guess having publicity in the Red Eye Chicago paper also helped *vink*. Ve had only heard good things about the show so ve couldn’t vait to get inside the theatre to take our seat.
Vith the help of “Giant Martini” our lovely and hilarious hostess for the evening, MsPixy and her helper Helena brought for our pleasure some old-school burlesque that gave a vhole new meaning to the term “bringing sexy back”.
A traditional striptease by the Belmont Bombshells’ own Kitten Kaboodle kicked off the festivities.
A sexy milkmaid number was performed by Titi Touché that involved the use of a butter churn, an old-fashioned fan dance by Paris Green and a group dance number to Feelin’ Good vith pink boas rounded out the Bombshells’ excellent performance.
Now, traditional old-school burlesque is not just about pretty ladies dancing and stripping, there is other entertainment as vell. Comedian Bill Cruz provided loads of laughs vhile juggler Brad French kept the audience on the edge of their seats vith his talented antics.
Last but not least, there vere a few very special guest dancers, including Gorilla Tango Theatre’s very own Slightly Spitfire vho managed to find a vay to get out of a pair of locked handcuffs in a most unusual and flexible manner. Vow!
Bella Ciao, a demure gal that became all sparkly and strippy vith the addition of burlesque music and the final number by Elle Rioux vith all the fringe vas a sexy bonus that kept the audience hootin’ and hollerin’ all night long!
Countess and I had the best time that night and ve happily give Belmont Burlesque Revue **TWO FANGS UP**.
