Shop Small Day 309: Pack a snack, we're heading to Urban Farmgirl

I understand, maybe antiques and vintage markets aren’t quite your thing (though True North was just voted #1 antique store in Grundy County!). Maybe you’re a little more Chip and Joanna and you want to channel your inner Magnolia. Rustic chic calling your name? Time for a little decor “fixer upper?”

Pack a snack and come with me…you’re going to LOVE Urban Farmgirl.

urban-1Like 33,000 other people, I’ve been following them on Facebook for a while…visually redecorating my house with every new posted picture.

So, why’d it take me so long to get there? Two reasons.
1- Urban Farmgirl is in Rockford
2- They’re only open two weekends a month.

But, after watching my kids check items off their summer bucket lists- today was my day…and we were heading semi-close to the area anyway.

I have to admit, after driving over an hour and a half to get there, I started to get a little a worried. I seriously hoped it wasn’t going to suck.

urban-2I knew as soon as we walked in the doors, though, I was in trouble.

Right in the middle an everyday neighborhood, is an ordinary house that is no longer ordinary. This is Urban Farmgirl.

It definitely doesn’t suck.

Settle in because you’re going to make the rounds often…everywhere you turn is another “must have” for every space of your home. Though there are multiples of some items, most are purely unique.

urban-3I’m already kicking myself for not getting this lamp.

Just when you think you’ve seen it all, you’ll remember that you’re in a house…there’s an upstairs too. I seriously considered just moving into the bedroom.

Needless to say, we enjoyed our visit and are eagerly looking forward to going back. Remember, they’re only open two weekends a month (see the schedule here) so the inventory is constantly changing. Even more intriguing is the Main Street Market: Urban Farmgirl and 150+ more vendors (September).

So, pack a snack, bring your girlfriends and venture out to Rockford…just be sure there’s plenty of room in the car for your purchases. Did I mention they sell furniture?
