I get it. Some days call for a burger and fries. You don’t have time to sit down, you just need to eat and get back to your day. Wouldn’t it be great if a quick, drive-thru meal could also be a little healthier? Now it can.
Introducing America’s FIRST Certified Organic Drive-Thru…
Yes, all of your favorites: burgers, fries, chicken nuggets, chicken sandwiches are all available. What makes Nic’s unique is the absence of synthetic colors, no GMO’s, and no artificial flavors.
Since I was in the area, I knew I needed to try it. And, for the sake of “research,” I basically ordered one of everything. Just a side note- this is was also the first fast-food burger I’ve had in over 4 years.
Here’s what you’ll notice about the food…just because it’s organic, you aren’t going to notice a difference in taste.
The fries are great, I’d definitely order the breaded chicken sandwich again, and though I don’t eat many burgers- this one was good.
The idea behind Nic’s isn’t about “gourmet” fast-food…it’s simply safer fast-food. Safer for your health and the environment. They use fresh, organic produce and quality ingredients.
Remember the post about Organic Food Will Make You Thin: and other nutrition myths? Organic fast food is still fast food, and eating it daily isn’t going to improve your health. But, you can eat it knowing that you’re avoiding sides of pesticides, growth hormones, and antibiotics.
Not in the mood for burgers or chicken? Opt for a salad or veggie burger; they also have a lettuce-wrapped burger if you don’t want a bun. If you can make it there before 10:30 am, there are egg and sausage sandwich options plus a gluten-free waffle breakfast or oatmeal topped with apples and cranberries. Yes, they’re all certified organic as well.
While the menu may look similar to other drive-thru restaurants, one of my favorite differences was finding Tractor Soda. Forget artificial sweeteners, colors, or flavors….Tractor Soda’s unique flavors are also made with 100% organic, non-GMO ingredients.
I had a tough time deciding on a flavor, so I made a delicious mix of lemongrass/blood orange/coconut. Though I liked their root beer too.
While Rolling Meadows is the first (and only) Nic’s location, they have big plans to expand (Hey Nic’s, if you need someone to educate new employees on the importance of non-GMO and synthetic ingredients….let’s talk!).
For the days you need to eat on the run or grab and go…you’ll be happy to know that Nic’s is here making quick convenience a little safer for our health.
