It’s been a ridiculously long time since my last post. All the “extra time” I figured I would have during the kids’ summer break? Yeah, not so much. Julie McCoy at your service. Since tonight is the monthly ChicagoNow blogpalooza (remember favorite quotes?), it seemed like the perfect night to share “my food preference/habit that others find unusual or quirky.”
Anyone who knows me can probably rattle off several of my “food quirks.”
“What about her belief that water chestnuts are not an edible food?”
“Mushrooms smell like feet?”
“Watermelon is not a salad ingredient?”
“Fruit doesn’t belong on a grill?”
Though they’re all valid suggestions, there’s a different “quirk” that confuses most people…
I despise hot desserts.
Yes, that includes your molten chocolate cakes. Warm brownies with ice cream? No thank you.
Dessert should be cold. Preferably frozen. That “molten cake” you love- put it in the freezer for about 5 minutes and then I’ll share it with you.
Why does my husband love this dessert quirk of mine? You know when you go to a restaurant and your date/spouse doesn’t order a dessert because they’re just going to “have a bite of yours?” Yeah, that NEVER happens with us.
I’m pretty sure he doesn’t even have to like it, as long as the dessert is served hot he’s ordering it! I know I’m usually left with the scoop of ice cream off the kids menu, which is fine. But, please, don’t bring me a spoon with it.
Dessert is only eaten with a fork…ice cream included.
